High Desert Trails System:

A narrow, single track mountain biking and hiking trail, High Desert Trail System provides a wide variety of terrain with the least technical beginning at the East Trail. Three loops off of the trail - First Mesa, Second Mesa, and Third Mesa - increase in technical difficultly of terrain.

Zuni Mountains

Just east of Gallup are the Zuni Mountains and the McGaffey Recreation Area. The Quaking Aspen Trail Head at mile marker three on NM 400 is the gateway to some 26 miles of newly designated mtb and hiking trails, as well as many miles of traditional trails.
